I LOVE this holiday! I love the whole month of July actually. This year, like every year, we went to Bear Lake with my family. We had to leave early because of school (whats new?) but it was still so fun! We played out in the water, played cards, went running, went for row boat rides, watched amazing fireworks, and just spent time relaxing with the family. We are so lucky that we have such a nice cabin that we can go and visit anytime we want :) On Monday (the actual 4th) we went and watched fireworks at Sugarhouse park. We had a BBQ there, played frisbee, the boys long boarded, ate some froyo, and the fireworks were incredible! It was such a fun night!

Budgeting?
Today Brad and I were looking over our accounts and we decided that we spend way too much money on dumb little things. They don't seem like a lot at the time, but eventually they all add up and drain our bank account. So we have decided to start budgeting. Each of us gets $50 a month to spend however we want. I haven't really been buying things lately so that shouldn't be a big deal, but what I really need to cut back on is eating out. I am so busy with school and work and I'm always with my study group and none of us want to make meals, so we always end up eating out. It's really disgusting when I think about how much money I spend on rumbi, sushi, and rubios. Hopefully this helps and we can start saving more. In a few months I should have saved up enough to purchase these babies here
Hopefully if I buy these I'll be more motivated to spend my time running instead of blogging :)

A day in maternal newborn
I'm in the middle of my OB rotations for school and let me just say it is AMAZING! Last week I went to Maternal newborn and it honestly was like living a dream. It has always been my dream to work on the baby unit when I become a nurse. Whether its delivering babies, taking care of moms and babies, or nursing those sick babies in the nicu, it doesn't matter to me :) I showed up for my shift and got started right away. My preceptor and I had a patient who delivered vaginally and a patient who had a c-section. I got to remove the staples from the incision, I got to give a baby his very first bath, I helped new moms breast feed, and I held babies in the nursery. It was such a wonderful day! I wish I could work there everyday, it really doesn't even feel like work. Next week I'm on labor and delivery and I am so excited for that! This is the best part of nursing school! :)

update
Wow it feels like forever since I've posted anything on here. A lot has happened in the last 3 weeks or so. First off we had Brad's little brother leave on his mission to Kennewick Washington. He spent 3 weeks in the MTC and then was shipped out to Washington. But before he could leave Brad and his friends had to sneak into the MTC and see him one last time. So they put on their suites and old missionary tags, shaved their faces and headed down to Provo. They were actually able to spend about an hour with Dave and I think it really helped Brad. He was having a rough time with his little brother being gone. Here are some pics of the missionary and the "missionaries"
A few weeks after Dave left, Brad's sister Catharine had a little baby boy. Welcome to the world Amos Kirk McAllister. We've been waiting for you! :)

a happy little family. Isn't he so cute!
Bradley Scott had a BIRTHDAY! He is now 23 years old! :) He was a spoiled boy this year. He got breakfast in bed, he got to go to lunch with his mom, he played golf with his new golf clubs, we went to dinner at Market Street Grill, he got rock climbing gear (which he's wanted forever) and a new remote control airplane. his friends took him to see Xmen. He had a great birthday! :)
We went up the canyon awhile ago with our friends Adam and Kami. Brad and Adam are practically best friends, they even came up with names for themselves...they refer to themselves as the "BA Revolution" boys are so weird. and kami and I love hanging out, we all have a fun time together...I think this time the boys had a little bit more fun than we did. (view at your own risk)
and now we are just trying to get through this summer semester without dying. Only 15 more days until the work slows down and I can finally breathe. Brad is loving his new job as a personal banker, and is almost done with training! :) We are loving life and enjoying the time we have with each other. This weekend is the Fortuna Family Reunion up at the Homestead. We are so excited to see everyone and to finally hold baby Amos!

A post of complaints
Today has just been one of those days and I feel like complaining. Actually I feel like eating a whole box of cookies/chocolates and sleeping all day but complaining will have to do.
- Nursing school is hard. I mean really really hard. Especially in the summer since its 5 weeks shorter
- I miss working out and seeing the sunshine
- 6am 6 times a week is terrible
- Chest tubes and blood transfusions are my new least favorite subjects
- The little girl with the paper shredder almost drove me to insanity
- Its only been 3 semesters and I'm already tired of my "smurf blue" scrubs
- I desperately need to clean out my car...if only there was time

a day without
Today is the first night since we've been married that we are spending apart. And let me just say that it is no fun. Brad is in Moab with his dad and brother for one last Fortuna father-son-brother adventure before his brother leaves to Washington for his mission. I'm happy that he gets to spend some time with his brother and his dad, but I really miss him. I just finished making jam with my two sisters, which was so much fun! but now they're gone and I'm all alone in our house. Its really sad. Everyone kept telling me that I would love having some time to myself and having the house all to myself, but I really don't. I'm a homebody for sure, but I don't like to be home alone. I sure hope tomorrow comes fast.

v.e.g.a.s
We went to Vegas for a few days to celebrate B-rad's 23rd birthday. His birthday isn't until June, but because of school and work this was the only time we could really go. I did all the planning and it was a surprise where we were going up until a few days before we left. We made our way down Sunday night and the weather was awful! It was raining so hard and it took us a lot longer than 4 hours to get to St. George. But we finally made it and we stayed overnight with Catharine and Kirk. On Monday it was off to Vegas. We got there and the first thing we did was find a Buffalo Wild Wings. Brad used to eat there all the time on his mission and he and his mission companions talk about it all the time. He was like a little kid while we were waiting for our food, he could hardly contain his excitement. It was cute. After lunch we went to check in at our hotel. I made reservations at the Luxor hotel (the one that looks like a pyramid) I thought it would be way fun to stay there! We got there and at first it was cool but the more we saw of it the less I liked it. After getting lost and going on 3 wrong elevators, we finally made it to our room...I was less than impressed. It wasn't horrible, but for $200 I expected it to be a lot nicer. I was getting really sad and I was begininning to feel like this trip was going to be awful, but then Brad came to the rescue. He got all serious and called the front desk and asked for our money back. After a few minutes of heavy discussion she finally told us she'd refund our money. I was so happy! We called the Paris hotel and the rates had dropped like $100 from when I checked online, so we ended up staying there the first night and Planet Hollywood the next. These rooms were so much nicer and because we booked the day of they were even cheaper. It was awesome! Our view from the Paris hotel was of the water show at the bellagio. It was perfect! While we were there we did some shopping, went to margaritaville, ate at the harley davidson restaurant, saw Penn and Teller which was so awesome, ate at buffalo wild wings again, and did some gambling. It was such a fun trip and it was so nice to get away!
Brad and his wings
we even got some sauce to take home.
Brad loves the "homies" and made a new friend
Brad tells me one day we're going to own one of these...
These nachos were HUGE

Happy 23rd Brad!
